Bakuchiol is an extract derived from the seeds and leaves of the Psoralea corylifolia plant, known as babchi or bakuchi. Native to India and Sri Lanka, this medicinal plant has been used in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine for centuries to treat skin conditions.

Bakuchiol is now a highly sought-after ingredient in cosmetics due to its numerous anti-aging properties. It is considered a natural alternative to retinol, offering the same benefits without the drawbacks. Unlike retinol, it does not irritate the skin, cause redness, or induce photosensitivity.

Among its properties, bakuchiol stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which help firm the skin and improve its elasticity. It smoothes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and helps prevent or fade dark spots while evening out the complexion.

Furthermore, thanks to its antibacterial, anti-seborrheic, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties, bakuchiol is highly effective at rebalancing sebum production while rehydrating problem skin (rosacea, couperose, eczema).
